Meet the Dancing Mushroom

Mushrooms are not a special treat anymore as more and more people are including them in their regular diet. Some exotic varieties are believed to help heal diseases along with their nutritional value. Some of the rare ones are mentioned in our blog and we have two special ones today for you. Head out to our blog to read interesting posts about plants and how we are using this knowledge to bring out the best solutions for health problems.

Maitake

The name Maitake loosely translates to Dancing Mushroom in Japanese. This mushroom grows wild in parts of Japan, China, and North America. Usually, Maitake mushrooms grow at the bottom of Oak, Elm, and Maple trees. While they can be cultivated and even grown at home, they won’t grow as well as they do in the wild. You can usually find the mushroom during the autumn months.

Traditionally used in medicine in China and Japan for thousands of years, Mitake’s health benefits are being explored more in the last two decades.

This mushroom has anticancer, antiviral, and immune-system boosting properties. It may also aid in the control of high blood pressure and blood sugar levels. According to one study, maitake mushroom extract is extremely beneficial to people suffering from insulin resistance and diabetes. Furthermore, a half-cup of maitake mushrooms per day is said to sweep the system, find abnormal cells & cause them to self-destruct.

At the same time, these trumpeting bushels can cause the body to release immune system cells that attack and kill cancerous cells.

While a lot more details are awaited from various studies that are underway, the market for the extract of Maitake is growing every day. In case you are looking to add Maitake to your diet, ensure you check with your doctor for the right dosage and indications.
